A “ceremony marked by emotion, the duty to remember, and a tense international context,” as RTL put it. The ambassador—a close friend of Trump’s—was filmed wiping away a tear. Was he thinking of the children at the Iranian school in Minab?

Is Maxime Prévot considering our country’s involvement, within NATO, in the Israeli-U.S. aggression against Iran—based on the delusional notion of “American sacrifices” during World War II?
Shouldn’t we then rush to help Russia in Ukraine? By that same measure of the “duty to remember,” the toll paid by the Soviet Union to crush fascism in Europe—between 27 and 35 million dead—is incomparably higher than that of the Americans—300,000 dead.
