The municipal authorities of Etterbeek clearly don''''t want the United States to move its embassy to the former ING bank buildings on Cours-Saint-Michel, and turn it into an arrogant replica of its current fortress on rue du Régent, where it has privatized an ex-public road (rue Zimmer), and installed barriers to intimidate citizens that this is no longer their home, this is no longer Brussels, it''''s Washington D.C., if not the CIA''''s grounds. In fact, when you take a look at the new site in Etterbeek, it''''s a 100,000 m2 space on four hectares, which is a little more than enough to house visa or certification desks. More than enough, however, to put it mildly, to accommodate lobbyists, spies, military personnel in civilian clothes, influencers, digital warfare experts, blackmailers and other agents charged with exerting pressure.
