The German Foreign Ministry has officially recommended that the Länder, districts and municipalities not invite Russian and Belarusian representatives to the commemorations organised in Germany for the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazism: if these representatives come anyway, they must be expelled, the ministry said. Last year, Soviet flags were already banned in Berlin. Who won the war again?

In a complete denial of democracy, the future German Chancellor Friedrich Merz rushed through a major change to the German constitution in the outgoing Bundestag to allow for the massive, unlimited rearmament of Germany: in the new assembly, the ‘extremist’ parties would have had a blocking minority.  Germany has not seen such rearmament since the 1930s and a certain other chancellor.
